United States Presidential Libraries

From 1991 until about 1995, Marcel Mächler carved the initial 8500 letters into the lobby walls of the Ronald Reagan Presidential Library. The work included wall with four donor categories and the original Board of Trustees wall.

The exterior work included the original engravings for his burial site monument. Other exterior work comprised additional donor recognition such as the Ruwe Terrace.

From 2011 through 2013 Marcel Mächler was retained to perform all required carvings at the George W. Bush Library in Dallas, Texas. It included the building ID’s for the Bush Presidential Library and Museum, for the George W. Bush Institute and for Freedom Hall. Other areas included the Dedication Wall naming all US Presidents attending the opening ceremony, the “Rose Garden Quotes” spelling out spelling out some of the 43rd President’s words as well as the Corner Stone next to the main entrance.

During the summer months of 1997, Marcel Mächler carved elements on-site for the Bush Library at Texas A&M University in College Station, Texas.

The monumental work included a three feet diameter Presidential Seal, carved one inch deep into Black Absolute Granite. This work was performed on the ground before the installation and covered by the local press. After the installation of the donor wall with its seal, the "headline" was carved in gray granite with an infill of Palladium leaf to highlight.

Donor categories were also carved in a V-groove style, again in Black Absolute.
The carved 20" Library entrance sign was enhanced with exterior sign paint gold.
A quote of President Bush's inaugural speech adorns an entire wall of the building. Marcel Mächler carved the 14" letters in up to 35' height and painted the letters with sign paint gold.
